Prosecution Guidelines

The Prosecution Guidelines were updated on 26 March 2021. These guidelines are applied by ODPP prosecutors in all the cases that we handle.

Steps in a Prosecution

The prosecution process varies slightly depending on which court is hearing the case. Read here to find information about the procedure in different courts.

Charges and EAGP

The Early Appropriate Guilty Plea reforms were introduced in NSW in 2018. The reform is designed to encourage early pleas of guilty in criminal cases.
